Fossorial but widespread: the phylogeography of the common spadefoot toad (Pelobates fuscus), and the role of the Po Valley as a major source of gene…
2007
International audience; Pelobates fuscus is a fossorial amphibian that inhabits much of the European plain areas. To unveil traces of expansion and contraction events of the species' range, we sequenced 702 bp of the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene. To infer the population history we applied phylogeographical methods, such as nested clade phylogeographical analysis (NCPA), and used summary statistics to analyse population structure under a neutral model of evolution. Populations were assigned to different drainage systems and we tested hypotheses of explicit refugial models using information from analysis of molecular variance, nucleotide diversity, effective population size estimation, NCP…
The "Historia de la doncella Teodor" in Burgos’ Printing Press: Regarding a New Edition from Juan de Junta’s Workshop, c. 1535-1540
2020
Workshop: iPads in Upper Secondary School Chemistry Education
2014
At the workshop arranged at the National Days of Chemical Education the participants had an opportunity to try out various Ipad apps and methods for utilizing them in chemistry education. The themes were based on the apps used during chemistry teacher education course arranged by the department of chemistry and methods developed on the teacher training school at the University of Jyväskylä. The apps used included Socrative Student, Google Drive, Graphical Analysis, ChemDoodle ja QR-reader. Out of these Socratice, which collects students answers to questions created by the teacher, was considered easy-to-use and the most useful by the participants. The participants also felt, that the worksh…
Volatility transmission patterns and terrorist attacks
2009
The objective of this study is to analyze volatility transmission between the US and Eurozone stock markets considering the effects of the September 11, March 11 and July 7 financial crises. In order to do this, we use a multivariate GARCH model and take into account the asymmetric volatility phenomenon, the non-synchronous trading problem and the crises themselves. Moreover, a graphical analysis of the Asymmetric Volatility Impulse-Response Functions (AVIRF) is introduced, which takes into consideration the crisis effect. Results suggest that there is bidirectional and asymmetric volatility transmission and show the different impact that terrorist attacks had on both markets. El objetivo d…
Three Projects for Council Houses by Lina Bo Bardi: from Virtual Reconstruction to Graphical Analysis
2018
The paper deals with the studies conducted in 1951 in Brazil by Lina Bo Bardi on the issue of council houses. The three examples were never realised but do help to describe the intention of the architect to promote a “rational” way of living, from a small house to an urban complex. The first project concerns a small house with a close relationship between architecture and nature. The second project concerns three housing units that embody the idea of the housing cell as a constituent piece of a community. The housing typologies to which the architect has referred are: the indigenous maloca, a community house used by the Amazon natives; the Italian peasant house with its living room; and the…
Female Architecture
2015
The objective of this study is that one, starting from the initial considerations, to give back to the history of architecture, through drawing as a critical means of inquiry, the thought and work of some women-architect who, between 1926 and 1962, have designed and/or built buildings of fine architectural quality. The critical re-drawing, which in this case is mimetic to the construction of the project, wants to make manifest the thought of some figures of the Modern Movement often relegated to an unknown fate; in particular it analyses a part of the activity of Lilly Reich, Helena Niemirowska Syrkus and Charlotte Perriand. The study aims to build a graphic inedited and exhaustive repertor…
Questions vives pour la géographie de l'intercommunalité
2008
This paper addresses the geographical stakes which animate cooperation between municipalities. This contribution updates work of Guy Baudelle (1996) and Philippe Menerault (1994) by establishing a new panorama of the intercommunality question through the contribution of geographers. The examination of articles being interested in the intercommunality, published in many reviews of geography, enabled us to draw up a synthesis of the concerns of the discipline on historical, identity, organisational and space dimensions of the cooperation between municipalities. In addition to the geographical interest of this approach, the analysis raises a paradox between spatial cutting and the space practi…
EEG Microstates Analysis in Young Adults With Autism Spectrum Disorder During Resting-State
2019
Electroencephalography (EEG) is a useful tool to inspect the brain activity in resting state and allows to characterize spontaneous brain activity that is not detected when a subject is cognitively engaged. Moreover, taking advantage of the high time resolution in EEG, it is possible to perform fast topographical reference-free analysis, since different scalp potential fields correspond to changes in the underlying sources within the brain. In this study, the spontaneous EEG resting state (eyes closed) was compared between 10 young adults ages 18-30 years with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and 13 neurotypical controls. A microstate analysis was applied, focusing on four temporal parameters…
The Role of Municipalities in Promoting Well-Being
2014
The aim of the paper is to research different approaches to researching and promoting the well-being in municipalities. To achieve the aim, such qualitative and quantitative methods of research as comparing, grouping, graphical analysis, focus group methods will be used. The main results and findings of the paper are: the role of municipalities in promoting well-being is increasing contrary to the role of national or regional authorities, due to the autonomous functions of local authorities, intensive informative links and a wide range of available economic and social instruments.

The main result and finding of the paper is the conclusion that in order to promote the regional development of the territory, the assessment of well-being at the level of administrative territory is needed. Based on this assessment, the policy can be developed in order to promote the regional development and social cohesion of the territory, as well as to have better …
